HLB’s annual international conference, held recently in San Francisco, US, brought together over 120 professionals from 38 countries around the world for three days. The conference was an opportunity for HLB professionals to discuss trends in the profession and wider business world as well as network together, strengthening the HLB “personalized network” which allows for smooth collaboration between the over 100 countries HLB International is established in.
Attendees also had the opportunity to listen to prestigious speakers:
Allan Koltin, a recognized speaker and industry analyst, one of CPA Practice Advisor’s Top 25 Thought Leaders and Accounting Today’s Top 100 Most Influential People in the accounting profession, specializes in working with professional and financial services firms in the areas of mergers and acquisitions, practice growth and management and human capital. Allan Koltin discussed “What truly makes for great firms?” and analysed common attributes of great firms and great leaders based on his broad behind-the-scene look at some of the highest performing firms in the US.
Larry Brilliant, one of Time Magazine’s 100 Most Influential People, is President & CEO of the Skoll Global Threats Fund, created by former eBay Jeff Skoll to confront global threats such as pandemics, climate change, water insecurity and nuclear proliferation, and the Former Executive Director of Google’s philanthropic arm Google.org. Larry Brilliant discussed how global threats present new challenges to traditional risk management, driving professional services such as audit and consulting to look beyond the traditional vision and incorporate global threats in their advice to clients.
This international conference is part of a series of annual conferences held by HLB International: an international and more technical Audit & Tax conference dedicated to the latest changes and updates in the profession, and several regional or sub-regional conferences including North America, Latin America, Asia Pacific, Europe, Middle East and Africa and Eurasia conferences. HLB’s next international conference will be hosted in Barcelona, Spain by member firm HLB Bové Montero y Asociados.
